Haggard on Wife Swap

It's been a while since preacher Ted Haggard made headlines. You may recall that back in 2006, a male escort claimed he had sex with Haggard and that Haggard bought drugs from him. Haggard denied having sex with the man and said he only bought the drugs, but didn't actually use them.

Either way, it did some serious damage to his image...for a while, that is. "I went through a scandal five years ago, and most marital problems aren't nearly as serious as that one was and we survived it," Haggard said.
Not only did Haggard survive, but he now wants the world to know he is thriving. Audiences will soon see him, his wife and their kids on ABC's "Celebrity Wife Swap."

"So many people are fixated on the scandal as though it is the only thing in [our lives]," he said. "We've been married 33 years. We've got wonderful children. We had a wonderful church life at New Life ministries for 22 years, and now at St. James Church. The kids were excited about the idea of communicating the current status of our life so that [viewers] could have some actual data instead of the symbolic imagery that I have become [to some people]."

One thing is for sure: viewers will see Haggard in a very different light. Haggard and his wife switch living places with Gary Busey and his fiancée Steffanie in the first episode of "Celebrity Wife Swap," which premieres on ABC January 3.

And if you think Haggard might have his hands full with or be seriously annoyed by Busey and his significant other, think again.

Haggard says he and his family really bonded with Busey's fiancée. "She kept saying, 'You have been surviving for the past five years and it's time for you to start thriving.' So she would not let us refer to the scandal," said Haggard. "She resisted that and kept saying, 'You all are such a good family,' and, 'you've got to move forward and enjoy the resurrection that God has for you.'"

HBO renews Enlightened

HBO renews Enlightened. HBO still 'Enlightened', HBO has renewed "Enlightened," a show about a self-destructive executive trying to rebuild her life. Other shows, including "Hung," "Bored to Death" and "How to Make It in America," weren't as fortunate.
American cable network HBO is renewing its Golden Globes-nominated freshman series Enlightened, but is axing three other series.

Hung and Bored to Death will not return for a fourth season, nor will How to Make it in America be back for a third cycle, the network said on Tuesday.

Enlightened, which ended its first season earlier this month, last week earned a Golden Globe nomination for Best Comedy or Musical Series, as well as a nomination for its star, Laura Dern. On the show, Dern plays an unstable career woman who wants to be a social activist.

HBO will premiere six new series in 2012. They include Luck, an untitled drama series created by Aaron Sorkin, Veep, Girls, Life's Too Short and Angry Boys, which debuts on New Year's Day.
'Toddlers' star's new role
Toddlers' star's new role. Toddlers singing along to a nursery rhyme have been banned from making a "star" sign in case the "rude" gesture offends deaf people.

The children were making the sign with their hands to indicate a twinkling star as they sang along to Twinkle Twinkle Little Star, when staff asked them to use a different gesture - prompting a furious response from one parent.

The disgruntled mother said: "It seems a little politically correct. These are innocent little children just making a sign to show a star. No-one would give it a second thought. Now every parent may worry their child may be making an offensive gesture when they're singing this song."

A spokeswoman for City of York Council, who are responsible for the Sure Start mother and toddler group in Acomb, York, denied it was a case of political correctness, insisting it was more "a sensible decision taken to prevent deaf children or deaf parents being offended by the use of the gesture".

She added that staff at the Sure Start group had been on a sign language course at which they were advised that the "star" gesture was very similar to the sign used for female genitalia.

The staff used a language programme called Makaton which uses signs and symbols to help people communicate, she said. Makaton is designed to support spoken language by using sign and symbols use with speech in spoken word order.

She said that staff realised it was a sensitive matter and, using their own discretion, had decided to use the accurate hand sign for a star.
The spokeswoman added: "Parents have not been banned from using the other sign and City of York Council does not have a policy over this matter."

Michelle Duggar miscarriage

Reality TV couple Michelle and Bob Duggar  lost their 20th child after suffering a miscarriage.  The two went to the doctor to find out the gender of the baby, but instead got the news that they lost it.
Michelle Duggar has suffered a miscarriage with her 20th child, according to a report from People.com

The “19 Kids and Counting” star, 45, and her husband Jim Bob Duggar learned the sad news while at a routine doctor’s appointment to learn the sex of the baby.

“We had just been talking about baby names last night and they were getting excited about naming a boy or a girl. It has been a real sad disappointment,”
she told People.

The Duggar’s plan to select a name for the baby before having a funeral service.

"I feel like my heart broke telling my children," she said. "They have all been so excited about this baby and looking forward to April coming around and having a new little one in our arms. That was the most difficult. The Lord is the giver of life and he can choose when that life is ready to go on and be with Him."

This was the couple’s second miscarriage. They previously lost a baby during her second pregnancy while she was taking birth control. The couple cites it as a reason they decided to leave the number of children they have “up to God.”
Martha Stewart dirty joke

Martha Stewart, 70, got a little carried away on her show while teaching the audience how to make homemade sausages. The host and a guest butcher were describing sausage casings  and then Stewart made a funny comparison.
Stewart hosted butcher Ryan Farr on her show to teach audiences how to prepare homemade sausages. As Barr described sausage casings as cleaned out pig intestines, Stewart made some more lighthearted analogies. Holding up a casing, Stewart said "so these are more like rubber balloons actually," before adding, "or condoms."

When Barr challenged her condom comparison, Stewart insisted that she "bet they [would] work," since they were "good enough for sausage." Awkward!

Stewart made headlines recently after her daughter Alexis released a book that painted her mother in a less than perfect light. Her daughter's book revealed that Stewart would avoid Halloween trick-or-treaters by pretending she was not home, and would urinate with the bathroom door open.

Watch the video below, and view a slideshow of another daring move Stewart recently made. Stewart was photographed sproting leather pants and sequins.
Abdul Scherzinger death threats

"X-Factor" hosts Paula Abdul and Nicole Scherzinger voted off the wrong contestant Thursday night -- at least according to several angry Drew Ryniewicz fans ... whose violent threats have Paula and Nicole fearing for their lives.

According to our sources, Paula and Nicole both got the cold shoulder from Simon Cowell after the show ... who was "furious" with their decision. But that's nothing compared to the abusive tweets and Facebook messages they've received.
Abdul Scherzinger death threats. 'X Factor' judges get death threats, After the latest elimination on the show "X Factor", judges Paula Abdul and Nicole Scherzinger apparently received death threats. Abdul and Nicole Scherzinger for voting Drew Ryniewicz out of the competition have lashed out with death threats against the two judges.

Both panelists have received harassment filled with violent language on Facebook and Twitter, and sources with the production confirm to Gossip Cop that there’s been “a ton” of vitriol directed at Abdul and Scherzinger since Ryniewicz’s ouster.

Online outrage is nothing new in TV talent competitions, but the sheer volume of angry, threatening messages has alarmed the “X Factor” personalities.

Gossip Cop is seeking to confirm whether additional security precautions will be taken.

We’ve also reached out to reps for Abdul and Scherzinger but have yet to hear back.
Abdul Scherzinger death threats

She broke down in floods of tears as she learnt she was the latest X Factor contestant to be heading home from the show and the news of Drew's departure left mentor Simon Cowell fuming.

But while the music mogul refused to speak to fellow Nicole Scherzinger and Paula Abdul after they gave their damming verdicts, fans of the 14-year-old have been extremely vocal telling the judges exactly what they think.

In fact, some angry fans have even gone as far as to post death threats to the women on social networking sites like Twitter.
A source close to the judges told MailOnline: ‘Paula and Nicole have been really shocked by the reaction they have had, immediately after the show they were being bombarded with messages angry fans who supported Drew.’
It seems a lot of people were as upset for Drew as Simon was. She's a young girl and was visibly upset, but like Astro a lot of Drews fans are online and they are very vocal’

When Drew was kicked off the show after performing a save me song against Marcus Canty her mentor Simon had stormed off from the judges desk and refused to speak on stage as he held the sobbing teenager.

Speaking about the elimination the source said: ‘Drew has handled it really well but Simon was devastated for her, he loved working with her and he blamed himself. He was angry with Paula and Nicole at first but he knows they are always going to go with their own decisions, that’s their job to do that, more than anything he was upset for Drew.’

X Factor judge Tulisa Contostavlos says she is still dogged by fears she does not "belong" on the show after her troubled childhood.

X Factor judge Tulisa Contostavlos says she is still dogged by fears she does not "belong" on the show after her troubled childhood.

She said she is still overcome by doubts following her teenage years in which she attempted suicide, self-harmed and was a regular dope smoker.

The star told the Radio Times she has her moments of self-doubt "now and again".

Tulisa joined the show this year as the judging panel underwent a revamp.

But reflecting on her role, she said: "I'll think, 'I don't belong here.'

"I get those moments now and again. Although I can be very feisty, that's a defence mechanism for me. I'm defensive because too many years of my life I was treated like shit."

She said it was a result of "being bullied, feeling weak all the time".

This series of ITV1's The X Factor winds to a close on December 11, but Tulisa said she would be happy to return to the show for a second year if asked.

And the star - one-third of chart act N-Dubz along with her cousin Dappy and boyfriend Fazer - said she has formed the most intimate bonds with the acts she has mentored.
"I get closer to my acts than any other judge. I want them to feel they've got a little family.

Yes, we get to peer into an unknown world, one that many will find reprehensible, but all will find fascinating.

Salsano told Hollywood Reporter:

With this show, I had the same experience I had in Jersey Shore [Season] 1. Where I couldn't leave the control room because I could not believe what was happening before my eyes. At any second chaos could erupt, and most days it did. When there was a fight in that house, it wasn't a regular reality show squabble—it was personal. Whoever was saying something was going after someone's mother or daughter.

‘FAMILY GUY’S’ 9/11 SATIRE, Show reminds that MacFarlane partied his way off doomed flight. On Sunday night, MacFarlane satirized the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks a decade after the plane he was scheduled to be aboard was flown into one of the Twin Towers. The episode of “Family Guy” — the cornerstone in MacFarlane’s animation empire — was a dark reminder that had Fox’s future multimillionaire creator-producer made it to the Boston airport minutes earlier, he wouldn’t be among us to lampoon those very events.

On Sunday night’s episode, baby Stewie and Brian the martini-sipping mutt use a time machine — employing clones to carry out the tricky business of monkeying with past events — and grapple with the opportunity to prevent 9/11. Their ultimate moral dilemma: Alter the course of history or let it go unchanged? In a nod to self-parodying the show’s origins, the episode is titled “Back to the Pilot.” (Although given the show’s twisted sci-fi democracy, the episode could have been subtitled: “Attack of the Voting Clones.”)

Too soon? Well, this isn’t the first time MacFarlane has tapped the terrorist attacks as “Family Guy” fodder — he’s repeatedly made 9/11 jokes on the show, which rose like a warped Phoenix after it was canceled in 2002.

After one of the nation’s darkest days, MacFarlane said in interviews that he partied hard the night before Flight 11 and also had been told that his flight was scheduled to depart a half-hour later than it was.

“I missed it by 10 minutes,” he said of the flight. “It was very, very fortunate.”
