Could Cairns Be the Destination for the Royal Honeymoon?
Everyone who thought that the honeymoon destination of Prince William and Kate Middleton was going to be the Isles of Scilly might have just been proven wrong. Prince William, while in Australia visiting the earthquake-ravaged towns and having a meet and greet with residents expressed interest in honeymooning in the country. The Prince said, "I love scuba diving. I have always wanted to dive the Great Barrier Reef. ... I will have to come back; maybe we'll have a honeymoon in Cairns." So could Cairns really be the destination for the royal honeymoon or was it just a remark to cheer up the residents? Either way, Prince William has just sparked some interest in the area. So here is a closer look at Cairns, the possible destination for William and Kate to celebrate their wedding.
Cairns is already a very popular tourist destination because of its tropical climate, with an average temperature all year round of about 84 degrees. It has the best of both worlds, as it is bordered by the Great Barrier Reef and the Great Dividing Range, which is a beautiful set of mountains.
If luxury is what the couple want, then the Shangri-La Hotel, The Marina Cairns is the place to be. This hotel has the city on one side, but has beautiful ocean views on the other side, complete with a marina for William and Kate to enjoy a private trip on a yacht or to go scuba diving like the Prince wants in the Great Barrier Reef. The Presidential Suite would be the accommodations chosen by William and Kate, as it is elegant and sophisticated just like the young couple. The suite has a separate sitting room, kitchen, and dining room, as well as a marble bathroom complete with a separate shower, bidet, and soaking tub.
The best part about this suite is a spacious veranda where Kate and her Prince can dine while overlooking the water.
While on vacation there, William and Kate might want to take a ride over the rainforest on the Skyrail, a gondola ride that takes you five miles deep. The Skyrail experience takes a total of 4 hours to travel through, but is well worth it to see the rainforest at its best. This is an attraction that I'm sure the royal couple will not want to miss.
We'll see if the Prince follows through with his honeymoon plans here, soon enough, but even if Kate and William don't choose this great destination, it is still a beautiful place for anyone to go and visit.
