'Lion King' 'Dark Knight' rises
'Lion King' 'Dark Knight' rises, Over the past few weeks three of the most anticipated films of 2012 saw their trailers premiere to mostly rapturous receptions. A few days ago someone was inspired to create a Alien/Prometheus mash-up trailer. The clip worked perfectly because those two movies are genetically linked at the story and visual levels. Before that the first trailer for The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey was reedited into something infinitely superior to what the studio put out.

Thus it was only a matter of time before the well-received second trailer for The Dark Knight Rises got its own fan edit. Some genius decided to take the soundtrack from the trailer and mate it with clips from Disney’s 1994 animated blockbuster The Lion King.

Reese Witherspoon has joined the cast of crime drama 'Devil's Knot', which is based on reporter Mara Levitt's 2003 book, 'Devil's Knot: The True Story of the West Memphis Three'.
Reese Witherspoon has joined the cast of 'Devil's Knot'.
The Oscar-winning actress has signed up to appear in the crime drama, which is to be directed by Atom Egoyan and is based on reporter Mara Levitt's 2003 book, 'Devil's Knot: The True Story of the West Memphis Three', according to Variety.

In the book, Levitt followed the prolonged murder trial of Damien Echols, Jason Baldwin and Jessie Misskelley Jr., who served 17 years in prison before being released this past August. They were accused of killing three eight-year-old cub scouts found in a wooded area of Arkansas called Robin Hood Hills.
Witherspoon will play Pam Hobbs, the mother of one of the victims.
Initially Hobbs was convinced Echols, Baldwin and Misskelley had killed her son but as the case dragged on, she began to believe the trio were innocent. In November 2007, Hobbs claimed that new evidence had eventually changed her mind.
The production of the movie is expected to begin next summer and as well as Egoyan and Witherspoon on board, Scott Derrickson and Paul Boardman will serve as the screenwriters.

"The Dictator" has got its first trailer available for viewing pleasure. Opening with a scene where President Barrack Obama and Secretary of State Hillary Clinton talk about a tyrant who controls the nation for decades, the promo video then sees Sacha Baron Cohen playing a luxuriantly bearded Middle Eastern billionaire who has an eccentric and annoying manner.

At one point, he is seen lying on a luxurious bed with Megan Fox, who plays a woman who gets paid to sleep with a man. When she receives some jewels as her payment, she asks, "What's this? A ruby? No Del Toro in 'Star Trek' sequel?
No Del Toro in 'Star Trek' sequel? - There are two things you should know before you read this.

First, El Mayimbe of Latino Review has a very, very high accuracy rate with the scoops he breaks. No one is perfect, but he's got a track record that demands that you pay attention when he runs something.

Second, JJ Abrams has never directly lied to me about something. Benicio Del Toro Star Trek, He's demurred when asked some questions, and he's played coy about some things, but outright fabrication does not appear to be his bag. Benicio Del Toro Star Trek,

So… take those two things into account when I tell you that Latino Review is reporting that Benicio Del Toro will be playing Khan Noonien Singh in the upcoming sequel to 2009's successful reboot of "Star Trek.
"

And when asked to comment on the report, Abrams responded with two very direct words: "Not true."

There's been this overwhelming belief in the film nerd world since the first film came out that any sequel to the Abrams "Trek" would have to introduce Khan, and that he would have to be the bad guy. I'm not sure how Khan became the default Joker to Kirk's Batman, and I'm not sure I buy that we need to see that story told again. You'd have to somehow deal with all the "Space Seed" stuff that didn't happen in this timeline, and without that, there's no reason for Khan to be seeking personal revenge on Kirk. Benicio Del Toro Khan,

More importantly, it seems like such a simple choice that I have to believe the guys making this film have something more interesting in store. Now, that's not to say that it's impossible they'd use Khan, but why just tell the same story with him? What clearer way could there be to show that this is a new timeline than to find the Botany Bay, thaw out Khan and his soldiers, and have them end up becoming allies to the Federation? You could make a powerful film about the assumptions we have about people that would really play with an audience's expectations if you wanted to, and it would make it very clear that just because a familiar name or face shows up in this continuity, there's no guarantee that you know what's going to happen. Star Trek,

Then again, Abrams didn't play coy or dance around it. He just plain said, "Not true." So that seems pretty firm as a denial. Star Trek stars still waiting to see script,

We're not going to know for sure until they make some official announcements, and until then, all I can do is print both sides of this one. I have no real feelings about this one way or another until the film starts to come into focus. Until then, it's all speculation. I will say that if this turns out to be true, it seems to be further support for the theory I had at the start of the week.

The film, which will focus on the period leading up to Live Aid in 1985, will begin shooting next year.

"I think we'll try and keep ourselves out of it as much as we can," May said.

Baron Cohen had been "on this project since we started talking about it seriously with Peter Morgan a couple of years ago," he added.

May and Queen drummer Roger Taylor will oversee music featured in the film, which will include songs by the band and by Mercury as a solo performer.

Graham King, of GK Films, which is co-producing the movie along with Robert De Niro and Jane Rosenthal's production company Tribeca, said Queen was "a music brand all unto itself".

"Freddie Mercury was an awe-inspiring performer so with Sacha in the starring role, coupled with Peter's screenplay and the support of Queen, we have the perfect combination to tell the real story behind their success."

Morgan, whose previous works include the Oscar-nominated screenplays for The Queen and Frost/Nixon, is already working on the script for the as-yet-untitled project.

Queen's 21-minute appearance at the Live Aid concert at Wembley Stadium featured Bohemian Rhapsody, We Are The Champions and Radio Ga Ga. It is considered to be one of the classic rock performances.

Top sequels of all time,It is regularly listed as one of the greatest movies ever made and many think it is superior to the original.

But legendary filmmaker Francis Ford Coppola has confessed that he regrets making The Godfather Part II, despite the fact its cemented his reputation and scooped him an Oscar for best director.

The revelation is sure to shock fans of the legendary mafia series, which also spawned a second sequel which fared less well critically.

Francis, 72, made the shock admission when he was asked by a TMZ cameraman in Los Angeles if he would consider returning to the hit series.

He said: 'There should have only been one.'

The Godfather, which was filmed in 1972, and its sequel are frequently paired together near the top of greatest movie of all time lists, with Orson Welles' trailblazing Citizen Cane usually just above them.

The first film is usually rated above the sequel, although the latter was more successful at the Oscars, winning six gongs to the first film's three, including the only best director nod he has received during his career.

All three films chart the life of reluctant mobster Michael Corleone, and his descent from Second World War hero to evil gangster.

However the first two films also prominently feature the tale of his father Vito, and his counterbalancing rise from orphan to ethical cosa nostra chief.

In fact the latter role was more successful in awards circles, winning a best actor Oscar for Marlon Brando and a best supporting nod for Robert DeNiro.

Ironically Al Pacino was never recognised by the Academy for his performances, his lauded second appearance controversially losing out for the best actor award to Art Carney, who starred in Harry and Tonto.

It was the first sequel to win the best picture award, with The Lord of the Rings: Return of the KIng the only flick to repeat the feat.

Both films are regarded as among the crowning glories of the New Hollywood movement, alongside classics such as 2001: A Space Odyssey, Chinatown and The Deer Hunter.

The third movie in the series was not made until 1990, receiving much fanfare.

But it was regarded as far inferior to its predecessors, though it still managed to win seven Academy Award nominations, though it walked away empty handed.

Godfather Part II star Frank Sivero, who played young Don Vito's adviser, believes Coppola has made a mistake.

He said: 'The Godfather Part II was a masterpiece, the Godfather part one was a masterpiece.'It was more Hollywood, and two was more human.
'Three I don't think had anything to to with the novel.'

Francis Ford Coppola talks 'Godfather' sequels,Francis Ford Coppola there should have only been one godfather movie
Los Angeles,  They are part of the cinema lore but director Francis Ford Coppola regrets making sequels to mafia drama ''Godfather''.

Spielberg eyes Bible epic, Steven Spielberg is looking to adapt a great book for his next film -- in fact, the great book. The filmmaker is reportedly eyeing a Warner Bros project called "Gods and Kings," which chronicles the life of Moses as told in the Old Testament of the Bible.

Movieline reports that Spielberg is very interested in directing "Gods and Kings," which follows Moses from a baby in a basket on the river, through parting the Red Sea and leading the Jews out of Egypt, to receiving the Ten Commandments.

The project would not be the first for Spielberg with a Jewish theme. The director helmed "Munich," the story of the 1972 massacre of Israeli athletes at the Munich Olympics. More famously, Spielberg received an Oscar for best director for his movie "Schindler's List."

Coincidently, Mel Gibson is also attached to an Old Testament project for Warner Bros. The disgraced actor is reported to have the first option to direct a film about Jewish warrior Judah Maccabee, who is celebrated during the Jewish holiday of Hanukkah. According to Deadline, Gibson has long wanted to make a movie about Maccabee and discussions of the project were going on in 2006, when he went on an anti-Semitic rant during a drunk driving arrest.

Gibson's attachment to the project has drawn significant opposition from Jewish groups. But Gibson has gone biblical in his work before, directing "The Passion of the Christ." Coincidentally, Maccabee happens to have been a cousin of William Wallace, the Scottish liberator Gibson played in "Braveheart."

Whether Spielberg directs "Gods and Kings" will depend largely on his schedule, Movieline reports. He is currently filming "Lincoln," which stars Daniel Day-Lewis as the 16th president. His movie "War Horse" will be released on Dec. 25 and is already getting Oscar buzz.
'Doctor Who' movie in the works
'Doctor Who' movie in the works_ Doctor Who 'to be made into Hollywood feature film',Our little geek hears are all aflutter! According to Variety, "Harry Potter" director David Yates is working with the BBC to develop a "Doctor Who" movie! Two of our favorite franchises ... it's enough to boggle the mind. Or cause a riot.A big-screen adaptation of "Doctor Who" is officially in the works, the film's director announced Monday,Doctor Who David Yates. The director says they're currently looking for writers and plan to take two to three years "to get it right." ("Doctor Who"  undergo radical transformation he says about his plans for the film.)

We've heard lots about a possible film for a long time. Johnny Depp's name was floating about among others. There is widespread debate among Whovians about whether or not a new person should play the good Doctor or if one of the previous Doctors from the re-imagined series should play the role.

Once the news hit the net, Twitter exploded with tweets like, "Matt Smith for the #DoctorWho movie or no movie at all, " and "Michael Fassbender as the Doctor FTW!" Ooh, now there's an idea. Fassbender has the gravitas to play the role and the wit to rival the former three.

If you don't know how this would work, here's the deal. The Doctor regenerates, so he can be played by anyone. According to the story, the film would not follow the current TV series. They're currently looking for writers and plan to take 2 to 3 years to get it right. Yates explained, "We want a British sensibility, but having said that, Steve Kloves wrote the Potter films and captured that British sensibility perfectly, so we are looking at American writers too."

So, are you guys excited for the film? Who would you like to see play the iconic role? Are you in for the Fassbender campaign? Let us know below.
Oscar-winner to be 'Star Trek' villain (VIDEO)
There are reports that J.J. Abrams, writer and director for the new "Star Trek" sequel  has his eye on a certain actor to play the film's villain Benicio Del Toro. No official offer has been made and the role is being kept secret. Chris Pine, Zoe Saldana and Zachary Quinto are all set to reprise their roles in the sequel.

Oscar-winner to be 'Star Trek' villain,Benicio Del Toro to be Offered Villain Role in Star Trek 2.Oscar winner Benicio Del Toro has been tapped to play the villain in ‘Star Trek 2′ and an official offer may go out this weekend – but the actor doesn’t even know who exactly he will be playing.Set phasers to smile. For the last two years, Star Trek fans have been waiting patiently for any information about the sequel to J.J. Abrams’ popular 2009 film and now they have some good news.

According to new reports, Academy Award winner Benicio Del Toro may soon be tormenting the cast and crew of the Starship Enterprise in an as-yet-unknown role. Director J.J. Abrams will reportedly make an offer to Benicio Del Toro to star as the main villain of Star Trek 2 this weekend.

the Del Toro deal isn’t totally locked yet, but it seems unlikely that the actor would turn down the chance to be part of a major blockbuster and sources say the Oscar-winner has already met with Abrams once about the part.

Interestingly, while we’re closer to landing an actor to play the villain, we still don’t know who the villain will be. In fact, at this point, even Del Toro doesn’t know.

Despite meeting with Abrams, in order to keep the character a secret, Del Toro hasn’t been told all the details of the role. That won’t keep us from speculating of course, so put on your Vulcan ears and let’s start debating.

Could Del Toro play another Romulan? A Klingon, perhaps? There are a ton of possibilities for villains in Star Trek 2, especially since the new franchise exists in an entirely separate timeline from the original series.

Then again, it’s possible that the original series could inspire a new take on a classic villain. Last year, Alex Kurtzman and Roberto Orci talked about being inspired by the original series and wanting the second film to be a new story that felt like “good old Star Trek.” Only time will tell exactly what that means for the movie, but it certainly will play a part in what role Del Toro finally ends up playing.

The 2009 Star Trek did something that a lot of people thought was impossible — make a nearly 50-year-old franchise sexy, fun, and appealing to modern audiences without offending diehard fans. Delivering an equally successful sequel is a tall order, but the addition of Del Toro to an already strong ensemble cast is a step in the right direction.

Steve Jobs movie coming this month,Lost Steve Jobs interview headed to the big screen
An unreleased interview with late Apple co-founder Steve Jobs, his last words steve jobs oh wow will be in movie theaters for two days only this month (steve jobs november 16 and 17).  The 70-minute interview was recorded in the '90s, but lost after the master tapes disappeared.  An unedited copy of the interview was recently discovered,Steve Jobs bio topping best-seller lists. The new biography of Steve Jobs written by Walter Isaacson is flying off the shelves, according to the latest stats from Nielsen.

The book, titled "Steve Jobs," sold 379,000 copies in the United States just in its first week, said theBookseller.com, citing data from Nielsen's BookScan service.

The bio outsold the week's next-best seller--John Grisham's "The Litigators"--by three to one. It also outsold the second best-selling nonfiction title--Bill O'Reilly's nonfiction "Killing Lincoln"--by almost eight to one.

Released on October 24, Isaacson's biography was written with Jobs' cooperation but offers an unvarnished and often painfully truthful look at his life and career. To get the full story, Isaacson interviewed a variety of people associated with Jobs, both personally and professionally, many of whom openly painted both the good and the bad aspects of the late Apple leader.
Steve Jobs is coming to a theater near you.

Missing footage from an interview Apple co-founder Steve Jobs did almost 20 years for a landmark miniseries that ran on PBS in the United States and Channel 4 in Britain has resurfaced and is the basis for a new documentary that will be shown in Landmark Theatres around the country on Nov. 16 and 17.

Curiosity about the always compelling and enigmatic man behind the Apple computer, iPod, iPhone and iPad has skyrocketed since his death from cancer a month ago. A new biography of Jobs by Walter Isaacson is on top of the bestseller list and a "60 Minutes" show featuring a lengthy segment on the book drew almost 13 million viewers for CBS.

The movie, "Steve Jobs: The Lost Interview," is from a conversation Jobs conducted with Robert Cringely for the author and producer's 1996 miniseries "Triumph of the Nerds: The Rise of Accidental Empires" about the origins of the personal computer industry and the emergence of Silicon Valley as a technology hub.

Although Jobs gave a 70-minute interview to Cringely, only 10 minutes of it were used in the finished product. When Cringely was making the sequel "Nerds 2.0.1: A Brief History of the Internet," he went looking for the rest of the Jobs interview, but the footage had vanished.

"We lost all the raw footage completely," Cringely said in an interview.

Unbeknownst to Cringely, Paul Sen, the director of "Triumph of the Nerds," had dubbed a VHS copy of the Jobs interview and chucked it in the back of his garage in Britain, where it sat collecting dust for years.

After Jobs died, Sen went looking for the interview because he thought it would be interesting to watch. He dropped Cringely a line telling him of his find and suggested that perhaps Cringely could put it on his technology blog I Cringely as a "gift to the world."

"He didn't see any commercial value in it," Cringely said. "I have three kids I have to put through college, so I thought maybe we could sell it."

Cringely sent Landmark Theatres co-owner Mark Cuban an email late one night to see whether there would be any interest in screening it on Landmark screens. Less than five minutes later, Cuban fired back that he was game.

The "Interview," which was in between Jobs' stints at Apple, captures all sides of the complex visionary. Jobs rips into Microsoft and Apple and goes into great detail about how betrayed he felt when he was fired from a company he helped found.

"He was great that day," Cringely said, adding that his emotions are on display. "He was a cranky guy. I think we see that."

There are also lighter moments, including one in which Jobs tells of a prank call he and a friend made to the Vatican pretending to be Henry Kissinger needing to speak with the pope.

The question is whether there is enough interest in Jobs to get people to a movie theater to sit through an interview. "We are all taking a risk here. Maybe no one will come," Cringely said.

It's not an expensive risk, though. The cost to give theatrical quality to a dubbed interview on VHS was only $6,000. Cringely's math tells him he needs only 1,501 people to see the movie to turn a profit and notes that he has a "large extended family."

Besides Los Angeles and New York, "Steve Jobs: The Lost Interview" will be screened in Landmark theaters in 17 cities around the country, including, of course, Palo Alto, where the movie will play for a week.

Leonardo DiCaprio was spotted taking a break from filming on the set of his new movie 'J. Edgar,' and Moviefone has your first glimpse of the sure-to-be Oscar contender.

In the film, DiCaprio plays controversial figure J. Edgar Hoover, who was the director of the FBI from 1935 up until his death in 1972.

Clint Eastwood is helming the project, from a script by Oscar-winning writer Dustin Lance Black ('Milk'). 'Social Network' hunk Armie Hammer will play Hoover's alleged lover, Clyde Tolson (and promises lots of kissing), while Naomi Watts will play Helen Gandy, Hoover's loyal secretary.

Meet the new Bond girl
French model and actress Bérénice Marlohe, 31, will play opposite Daniel Craig, 43, in the next James Bond film series the new movie titled is skyfall.  Marlohe will follow in the footsteps of other famous Bond girls like Teri Hatcher, Halle Berry and Denise Richards Olga Kurylenko actress starred in the most recent film.  She's following in the smoking-hot footsteps of Teri Hatcher, Halle Berry, Denise Richards, Ursula Andress, Eva Green and other iconic femme fatales who've smooched a certain British spy.

Meet Berenice Marlohe, the newest "Bond Girl" revealed at Thursday's press conference for Skyfall, the newest James Bond film.
The Bond girls don't always offer up much of substance in the 007 films but their casting and appearances through the franchise is nothing short of iconic. There have been plenty of rumors as to who would be the latest Bond girl in the upcoming Bond film but with this morning's announcement of SKYFALL, we now know that French actress Bérénice Marlohe will be Bond's latest lady friend.

But who exactly is Bérénice Marlohe?

Marlohe is a mostly unknown actress and model and I don't just mean unknown here in the US. Her IMDB biography has two sentences and one is that she was just cast as the Bond girl in SKYFALL. The other notes that she made appearances on French TV shows "Père et maire," "R.I.S. Police scientifique" and "Équipe médicale d'urgence".

In the film, Marlohe will play a "glamourous, enigmatic character" named Severin. Glamorous and enigmatic? Sounds like pretty much every Bond girl...

She may not have a whole lot of acting experience to reflect back on so here's a look at Marlohe's other work: looking really hot.

Best pirate movies

Best pirate movies. Pirate movies have been a Hollywood staple since the silent film era. They did well in theaters for many years, but fell on hard times until Disney revived them with "Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl." The fourth installment, "Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides," just hit theaters, so we take a look back at the best pirate movies of all time.

'The Sea Hawk'
Just before he directed this classic love story, Michael Curtiz showed that he also knew something about pirates. Errol Flynn played the pirate in this classic, and was there ever any actor who better swashed a buckle? Johnny Depp has nice cheekbones, but everything he brings to the character of Jack Sparrow was done first by Flynn
'Captain Blood'
Although they later reached pirate perfection in "The Sea Hawk," director Michael Curtiz and Errol Flynn combined for one of the greatest sea adventures ever put on film. Flynn plays a doctor who is driven to become a plundering pirate and seeks gold, justice and Olivia de Havilland.
'Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl'
The two sequels of this movie -- "Dead Man's Chest" and "At World's End" -- seemed to run about 12 hours each. But the first one was fun, particularly because of Johnny Depp and Geoffrey Rush as the irrepressible Capt. Barbossa. Sure, Keira Knightley and Orlando Bloom were in it,
'Mutiny on the Bounty'
One could debate whether this is a true pirate movie, but Fletcher Christian certainly acted like a pirate when he took command of the Bounty from Captain Bligh. You may prefer a different version, but this is the one that won the best picture Oscar
'The Buccaneer'
Anthony Quinn directed, Cecil B. DeMille produced and Yul Brynner starred as pirate Jean Lafitte, who assists Andrew Jackson during the Battle of New Orleans. DeMille directed a pretty solid version two decades earlier
'Treasure Island'
Rent this version of the Robert Louis Stevenson classic, and introduce your kids to the late, great Jackie Cooper.
'Peter Pan'
Disney's animated version of James Matthew Barrie's tale is just about perfect.
'The Pirate'
Cast alongside Judy Garland, Gene Kelly was the greatest dancing pirate who ever lived not that it's a very big field.
'The Pirates of Penzance'
Based on a Gilbert and Sullivan classic, this film is very theatrical. Not that there's anything wrong with that. Kevin Kline is amazing.
'The Black Swan'
Not to be confused with the dark ballet movie starring Natalie Portman, this swashbuckling film is an excellent, if dated, example of the genre, with Tyrone Power and the magnificent Maureen O'Hara.
'The Crimson Pirate'
Burt Lancaster, pirate. Enough said.
